The Carabina Cultural Association and the Quarto Amado Art Gallery, through the State Culture Fund of Minas Gerais, announce the call forArtistic Residency of Public Sculptures and Art on Earth, which is expected to take place in the periodfrom July 19th to August 1st, 2021in the district ofsarandira(Juiz de Fora), in the Zona da Mata region of Minas Gerais, as part of the Sarandira Residence Cycle.Attention: the date of residence can be changed according to the evolution of the pandemic. The result of the selection will be announced by email to those selected on May 10, 2021.
Artists, sculptors, architects, students, researchers, creators in general and amateurs (from the verb “to love”), individuals or collectives, can participate. The project that proposes to work in a more creative and innovative way, in addition to dialoguing with the local reality and the natural and cultural context of the region, will be selected, always having as a reference the principle of perpetuity and permanence of the work.
The residency offers participants, in addition to the fee and resources for carrying out the work, transportation (from BH or Juiz de Fora), accommodation and food. To learn about the regulation and register, interested parties must access the link below the Public Notice. The Sarandira Artistic Residency Cycle is made possible through the State Culture Fund of Minas Gerais and carried out by Galeria Quarto Amado and Associação Carabina Cultural.
Associação Carabina Cultural, through the Sarandira Criativa project, has been carrying out a series of initiatives since 2014 to bring resources, promote training activities and encourage the growth of self-esteem in the village.
Among a set of actions, the relationship with the Quarto Amado Art Gallery stands out, which was invited to develop a series of paintings on the facades of houses in the village in 2017. it had been launched with a national call for villages with up to two thousand inhabitants who would like to be welcomed by a group of muralist artists. Sarandira was the first community to be selected. (https://vimeo.com/259207743).
From this first meeting between Associação Carabina Cultural and Quarto Amado, a relationship was born that resulted in this present partnership with Ciclo de Residencias Sarandira. In the first stage, an invitation was made around the making of Public Recreational Utilities and Affective Landscaping. The selected architects, Clara Sefair and Rafael Monteiro, both from Juiz de Fora, created a new central square for the community in November 2020 (www.carabinacultural.com.br/residenciasarandira).
The present call is the continuation of the Cycle of Residencies, now dedicated to the creation of Public Sculptures and Art on Earth, which can be understood as a literal translation of the artistic movement known as Land Art.
The Sarandira Residency Cycle involves a total of three artistic-cultural residencies that are being held during the years 2020 and 2021: Residency in "Public Recreational Utilities and Affective Landscaping" (already held), Residency in "Public Sculptures and Art on Earth" , both coordinated by journalist and curator Bernardo Biagioni, and a "Development of Creative Handicrafts" program coordinated by handicraft specialist Andreia Costa.

DEVELOPMENT OF SARANDIRA TOURISM
The first visit for the tourist survey of the Sarandira Criativa project was carried out between January 14 and 17, 2019 in Sarandira (Juiz de Fora - Minas Gerais) by tourismologists Raquel Faria and Suzana Markus. In addition to the attractions of the district (Mine, Fountain, Circuit of the Enchanted Murals and shops), Cachoeira do Castelo, Cachoeira de Sarandira, Fazenda Santana, Cachoeira Passo da Pátria (Baluarte Restaurante), Fazenda do Rochedo, Fazenda Cachoeirinha and Fazenda do Playground.
Based on the elaboration of an Affective Map by the community of Sarandira and using a fully participative methodology, training in tourism will be initiated through the identification of all natural and cultural attractions, in addition to mapping the food and accommodation services in the community for the elaboration of the plan of tourism in Sarandira and the finalization of the tourist survey. From then on, the community will organize itself to provide scripts and produce local events.
The Casarão de Sarandira will serve as a focus for these activities and will be managed by the community itself after this formation.
Currently, the Macaúba local development team (Mariana Rocha, Lívia Pacheco and Lupri do Carmo) are at the forefront of the current diagnosis and strengthening of the community's productive identity in order to later awaken the power of execution, think of collective actions and execute a schedule of actions to seek the development of tourism in Sarandira.
